Royal Wedding

Okay, so I wasn't at all interested in getting up in the middle of the night to watch the Royal Wedding. Nor did I understand what the big fuss was about leading up to the wedding. However, my dog must have been really intrigued because he woke me up at 1:15 acting like he had to go out but didn't.

Since I was up and always watch tv to fall back asleep I figured there wouldn't be several options besides the coverage of the Royal Wedding. I was right. I settled on watching E!'s coverage because I like Gulianna and they were focusing on the fashion. I found myself becoming more and more interested.

Like I said, I didn't read/listen/watch any of the coverage leading up to the Royal Wedding so it was interesting to hear details of their time together and their families and again the fashion kept me watching as well (did you see all those fabulous hats).

So I watched for about an hour and a half. I saw the cars leaving the Clarence House and arriving at Westminster Abbey. (How awesome was the Rolls Royce Kate and her father rode in?) I was surprised that none of the cars had tinted windows, therefore very easy for all to see who was riding in the cars. I watched the guest mingle and the crowds outpour with excitement. At this point, I was hooked.

I had to see Kate's wedding dress, how she would wear her hair and do her make-up, etc. And once she made her way down the aisle, while of course I thought she looked gorgeous, I thought how happy they both looked and how it truly was a touching story. Thus, I am assuming, why everyone was so obsessed the last few months/weeks leading up to the wedding.

It seemed like both Prince William and Kate are down to earth and relateable. I suppose watching Prince William (and his brother) grow up in the public eye and seeing his and Kate's relationship over the years makes people feel like they can relate to them more. Plus, they seem to respect the fact that they are in the spotlight and look to acknowledge their fans.

I didn't stay awake much longer after they said their vows, but I thought they looked like a beautiful, happy couple. Which made me smile and think of how happy me and Mr. Pickle are (cheesy, I know)!

Hmmmmm...

Would it be bad to walk to 7/11 to get a candy bar and walk back? At least I burned a few calories walking instead of driving, right?!?!

I hate that I crave chocolate so much.

It is taking me everything not to buy up Safeway's entire stock of half-priced Mini Eggs. The thought of not having them for another year kinda scares me.

I need help, I know this!

Embracing Change

I can't believe it, in little over a week.....

- My sister got engaged
- My best friend from high school found out she is pregnant with her first
- My close friend from college found out she is pregnant with her second
- My other friend found out she is pregnant with her second

I am starting to think this means we aren't a bunch of wild and crazy kids trying to drink each other under the table anymore.

Trying to embrace all this change! So happy for my friends and my sister.

Weekend Review

I had a wonderful 3 day weekend.

Thursday night, I met some girlfriends for happy hour at a local wine bar. We ended up heading to a country bar after the wine bar. Good thing I didn't have to work on Friday, because those who did weren't feeling too hot!

Friday morning, after sleeping in, I ran some errands and met up with my sister. We surprised our best friend (who just found out she is pregnant) with a surprise visit at her office. We brought her some flowers, a card and a book on being pregnant (since we obviously can't tell her if what she is going through is normal or not).

Afterwards, my sister and I hit up one of our favorite sushi restaurants for lunch. Mmmmm, I seriously could eat sushi every day. And what does a just engaged girl and her sister feel is appropriate to do right after stuffing their faces with sushi?!?! Why go wedding dress shopping of course. My sister tried on a few dresses and found two she REALLY likes. I know it sounds harsh, but I didn't expect my sister to look so good in girly wedding dresses. Don't mean to sound rude, but I was always the girly girl dressing up in pouffy, sparkly dresses growing up and she was more of a tomboy. I must say, her two favorite of the day looked gorgeous on her and totally fit her style.

Afterwards we met up with another friend and saw Scream 4. I thought it was good considering the movie. The Scream movies have never been realistic or believable. There were younger girls in the theater voicing their opinions of how unrealistic the movie is. Uhhhhh, did you see the first three movies?

Still in the wedding planning mood, my sister and I went back to my house to watch sToribook Weddings and Say Yes To The Dress while doing some online research. Eventually I made us dinner, she took me to ice cream and I drove her home. The perfect day off!

Saturday morning I got some chores around the house done and headed to a nearby park for a friend's birthday party. We had a bbq and some other yummy treats. The girls all hung out and chatted, while the boys entertained themselves playing whiffle ball and the birthday boy took a nap on a bench!

I literally came home after wards and lounged for the rest of the night. I was too full to move!!!

But, Sunday was another day and a holiday at that. And of course the only way to celebrate holidays is to stuff your face with your loved ones. (No wonder why I am still chubby!!) We all met at my mom's house and enjoyed a relaxing day with family and friends.

Weekend Review Part Deux

Since you already know what an exciting night Friday night was from my previous post, I will start this post with Saturday.

Saturday Mr. Pickle and I slept in, got breakfast and ran some errands. I got ready to head to a friend's birthday party while the Starvin' Marvin crew prepared for another weekend of practice cooks. My sister and I attended a 30th birthday for our friend's hubby. We had a good time hanging out and eating a TON of food and even played a few games. My sis and I were going to go to a local country bar, but a $20 cover was a little out our price range for the night (my sis is already saving for the wedding!!).

Sunday morning the boys were already up and working on the grill. My sister had a photo shoot for one of my friends in Sacramento so I opted to join her. First we hit up our favorite sushi place in Downtown Sacramento with some of my old sorority sister's and then we went over to my friend's/sorority sister's house to take pictures of her AHHHH-DORABLE daughter. We headed back home just in time to enjoy some leftover BBQ and then our friend who is visiting from Australia talked Mr. Pickle and I into going to the bar with him. Needless to say, I was pretty tired on Monday morning!

Happy Monday

I am so excited to be able to announce that my sister got ENGAGED on Friday!!!

I was let in on the secret of the proposal last Wednesday and had to act normal and keep my mouth shut until Friday night. Being that I talk to my sis at least once a day and actually saw her on Wednesday and Thursday night, this was no easy task.

All day Friday I couldn't sit still and was nervous. Why was I nervous?? I can't imagine how her boyfriend felt!!

I am so excited and can't wait to start planning...well actually, we already have!

You can read my sister's post about it here and below are TONS of pictures from the little shindig we had after they got engaged.

(Her boyfriend arranged for all of her closest friends to surprise her at a wine bar after the proposal so she could confirm she said yes, share the story of how it actually went down, show off the bling and celebrate with a few adult beverages. Needless to say, she was surprised the whole night and is very happy with how everything turned out.)

Jealous MUCH!

I know it's not good to be jealous of other people, but the fact that I am sitting here at work while my mom is on her way to Hawaii (Maui) for a week makes me EXTREMELY jealous. Took this on pic on Big Beach the last time I was there, OVER A YEAR AGO!

Happy Friday all. I have a fun, busy weekend planned :)

Weekend Review

This past weekend was spent at Clear Lake for my friend's bachelorette party!! She requested a small, low-key weekend without any adult entertainment, but she didn't say anything about fun shaped straws :)

Friday after work we made the two and a half hour drive to Clear Lake. I assumed we would just hang out in the room Friday night, but we ended up going to one of the Indian Casinos in the area. I don't gamble, so me and the bride to be hung out at the bar most of the night while the other two pressed their luck at the tables and slot machines. One of the ladies won some money and the other one lost some money. (Hence why I don't gamble...I'd rather just go shopping.)

Saturday morning we lounged around for a bit and then went to get manis & pedis. The nail shop we were in was great. We had the whole place to ourselves and we were able to hang out and watch videos recapping Michael Jackson's life & one of Janet Jackson's concerts in Hawaii. They literally had a ton of VHS tapes to choose from, so funny.

We got back to the room and made dinner and got ready to go back to the casinos to gamble and get our groove on at the bar/club.

Although the bride to be said she wasn't going to get all decked out in bachelorette gear, we left her with little choice. She was a good sport and enjoyed the extra attention and free drinks.

Sunday morning we got up a little later than planned and had a little trouble getting moving!! I definitely can't hang like I used to...going out two nights in a row wore me out. We got home later in the afternoon and all I wanted to do was go straight to bed. Unfortunately laundry needed to be done and I was starving and we didn't feel like cooking/cleaning so Mr. Pickle and I went out to dinner.

Confessional Friday

I am joining Aly and confessing a few things to the interwebs today. I confess .... that my dinner last night consisted of some funfetti cake and Cheez-Its. I confess ... that while I was putting out the garbage cans last night, I cut a lizards tail off and I felt kinda bad. I confess ... that sometimes I don't mind a night or two without the hubs because I get to rule the remote and enjoy some peace and quiet. I confess ... that I only wash my hair 4 times a week, regardless if I work out or not. I confess ... that I wouldn't dream about going out on the town with my hair in a pony tail and without any make-up on, but that's how I roll to work every day. (Good thing I only work with 2 other people that could care less.) I confess ... that I am officially a sugaraholic and need to detox after the weekend getaway with the girls for a bachelorette party.

Wordless Wednesday

I need a vacation.

PS. This was taken at Makena Beach on Maui (right about where Mr. Pickle and I got married)

Okay, so this isn't really a wordless post. Whatev.
